Add a Specification Area

Objective

Add a specification area to manage and separate specifications for different buildings.

Background 

When uploading specifications for a project with multiple buildings or phases, you might find that many specifications are labelled with the same number, for example, A1. To prevent confusion, you can create different specification areas, where each building can have its own separate section within the project's Specification tool. The ability to create separate specification areas within a project makes it easier to navigate within the Specifications tool to find the correct specification, even when there are multiple specifications with the same title or number. When the Specification Areas feature is enabled and configured for a project, you can click into the designated specification area to see specifications associated only with that building. 

Things to Consider

Steps

  1. Navigate to the project's Specifications tool.
  2. Click Specification Areas.
  3. Click + Add Specification Area.

  4. Enter a name for the new specification area.
    Note: It is recommended that you name the specification area to match the name of the related building, structure, or project phase. 
  5. Click Create
    Optional: Upload specifications into the correct specification area.
