What are Procore's default change types and change reasons?

When users Create Change Events, there are 'Type' and 'Reason' drop-down lists, where users select the change type and reason for the event. Companies can show/hide the default options and create custom options to select. For instructions, see Set the Default Change Management Configurations.

These are Procore's default change reasons. Companies can show/hide these options and add custom reasons to this list, so your list may include different options. 

Change Type Definition
Allowance

An Allowance is an amount of money that has been set aside in a construction contract’s original sum to cover the costs of paying for known items that were not specified in detail in the contract. 

Contingency

A Contingency is an amount of money held in reserve to pay for accidental or additional unforeseen costs during a construction project.

Client Change

An Owner Change refers to an event initiated by a request from the construction project’s owner.

Safety Safety refers to any proactive safety-related changes that potentially impact the project's program, budget, or scope of work. 
TBD TBD indicates the change event type is still to be determined.
Transfer

A Transfer refers to a change in ownership for the performance of work.

Change Reason Definition
Allowance

An Allowance is an amount of money that has been set aside in a construction contract’s original sum to cover the costs of paying for known items that were not specified in detail in the contract. 

Backcharge

A Backcharge is an amount of money that a buyer holds back from a seller to recover any costs incurred as a consequence of the seller performing incomplete or defective work. For example, an Owner might bill a backcharge to a Head Contractor (HC) for site clean-up or a HC might bill a backcharge to a subcontractor for property damage. 

Client Request

A Client Request refers to a change in the performance of work initiated by a request from the construction project’s client.

Design Development

Design-Development (DD) refers to one of the five (5) phases of architectural services of a construction project where the Architect uses the Schematic Design (SD) to produce the project's initial Construction Documents (CDs). 

Existing Condition

An Existing Condition refers to a change that occurs where design plans must be modified due to existing conditions at the worksite.
