What is an assignable permissions template?
Background
In order to answer this question, it's important to know that user access to the tools in Procore is typically managed using permissions templates.
Permissions templates are managed in the company's Permissions tool, where users with the appropriate permissions can:
- Create and manage company permissions templates. See Create a Company Permissions Template.
- Create and manage project permissions templates. See Create a Project Permissions Template. This includes managing the assignable permissions templates for each project permissions template.
- Edit your company's default permissions templates. See What are the default project permissions templates in Procore?
Answer
In Procore, an assignable permissions template is a permissions template that you can assign to other users based on the settings in your own permissions template when you have the appropriate permissions to add or edit other users to Procore.
Example
Jack is a Project Coordinator at Nelson Head Contractors. Jack's manager, Jill, created a permissions template in Procore named 'Project Coordinator - Internal' and assigned that template to Jack. Because Jill only wants to allow Jack to assign the 'Subcontractor - External' permissions template to other users when he adds them to Procore, she can select the 'Subcontractor - External' permissions template as an assignable permissions template when she edits the 'Project Coordinator - Internal' permissions template.
