What is the 'Code' field on the project creation page?

Background

When creating or editing a project in Procore, you might see a 'Code' field available. See Create a New Project or Update General Project Information.

The Code field can be designated as Required, Optional or Hidden in the Company level Admin tool. See Create a Project Fieldset.

Answer

The Code field for a project is intended to be an abbreviation of a project name. For Procore's Document Management tool, the abbreviation entered in the Code field populates as the Project field for naming standards.

Example
If the project name is Vortex Business Centre, you might enter VTX for the project code. If the naming standard has the Project field active, VTX will show where the Project field appears in the naming convention.
