Add, Edit or Delete Locations

PHASED RELEASE - From Open Beta to GENERAL AVAILABILITY (GA)

This documentation describes the GA version of the new Locations feature. Users will not have access to all of the features described in this documentation until the GA version of the Locations feature is released to their company. Three versions of Locations are currently available:

  • GA. This is the latest version of Locations and is being gradually released to all accounts over the next several weeks.
  • Open Beta. This is the earlier version of Locations and does not contain all features described in this documentation. Users with the Open Beta experience will see a 'Beta' label on the Locations screen in the application.
  • Legacy. This is the oldest version of Locations. It will soon be replaced for all users by the new GA experience. See Project Admin Documentation for legacy Locations documentation.

Features that become available when the GA experience is enabled are:

  • The ability to leverage the new locations screen with pre-existing lists of locations.
  • The ability to add new locations and swap drawing revisions for existing locations.

Objective

To add, edit or delete locations for your project's locations list.

Background

Once you've generated your tiered list of project locations from your drawings, you can view them in the Locations screen. The Locations screen allows you to add new locations, edit locations themselves, modify boundaries for locations overlaid on drawings and also view a heat map to see how many items in Procore are associated to each location. The Locations screen is accessible from both the Project level Admin tool and the Drawings tool.

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions:
  • Additional Information:
    • Locations must be published to be visible to users with 'Read Only' or 'Standard' level permissions. Draft locations are only visible to users with 'Admin' level permissions.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the Drawings tool and click Edit Location Hierarchy.
    OR
Navigate to the Project level Admin tool and click Locations, then click Edit Location Hierarchy.
  2. Select Add Drawings to generate locations for one (1) or more new drawings or revisions.
    OR
Select Skip Drawings and Edit to edit existing locations.
  3. Proceed with the steps for your selection:

Add Drawings

  1. Mark the checkboxes next to the drawing(s) you want to submit for location extraction.
Note: Each drawing can only have one revision selected for use with locations. Selecting a different revision of a drawing that has already been used to extract locations will replace the existing drawing with the selected revision and update the related locations.
  2. Click Submit for Extraction.
  3. Once processing is complete, click Review Locations to review the suggested location hierarchy.
  4. When review is complete, click Update Locations to publish your updated location hierarchy.

Skip Drawings and Edit

  1. Select a location from the list to view the associated drawing, location boundaries and heat map.
  2. Click the vertical ellipses next to a location and select the option to:
    • Edit a location.
      • Edit Location. Allows you to rename the location.
      • Edit Boundary. Allows you to edit the boundary around the location on the drawing by dragging the dots at the corners of the location shape.
    • Add a sub location.
Note: You cannot add boundaries around sub locations.
    • Delete a location.
Note: Deletion of a location is permanent. Deleted locations cannot be recovered. Deleting a location also deletes all of its sub locations.
