Perform Bulk Actions on Defect List Items

Objective

To use the Bulk Actions menu in the  Defect List tool to perform bulk edits on a batch of defect items. 

Background

The Bulk Actions menu in the Defect List tool lets you perform the same action on a batch of defect items. 

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permission:
    • 'Admin' level permissions on the project's Defect List tool.

Steps

Choose from these options in the Bulk Actions menu.

Use Bulk Actions > Edit in the Defect List Tool

  1. Navigate to the project's Defect List tool.
  2. Locate the defect list items that you want to modify and then:
    • To select all of the defect items in the list, mark the checkbox at the top of the left column.
      OR
    • To select one or more of the defect items in the list, mark the check box to the left of each desired defect list item. 
  3. Choose Bulk Actions > Edit . 
    Note: The Bulk Actions menu is supported in the My Items, All Items, and Recycle Bin views. 
  4. Edit these fields as you want for the selected defect list items:
    • Title. Edit the title for the selected items. 
    • Type. Select the type for the selected items from the drop-down list. 
    • Priority. Select the priority for the selected items from the drop-down list. 
    • Trade. Select the trade associated with the item from the drop-down list. 
    • Add an Assignee. Select an assignee to the Assignee Name field on the selected items. 
      Note: If a defect item has multiple assignees, you can remove all of the assignees by selecting Clear all Assignees from the list box and clicking Update.
    • Due Date. Set a due date for the selected items.
    • Defect Manager. Select the person on your team who is responsible for overseeing the resolution of the selected items.
    • Final Approver. Designate the final approver for the selected items. 
    • Location. Edit the location of the selected items. 
    • Reference. Edit the reference for the selected items.  
  5. Click Update.

Use Bulk Actions > Delete Defect List Items

  1. Navigate to the project's Defect List tool.
  2. Locate the defect list items that you want to modify and then:
    • To select all of the defect items in the list, mark the checkbox at the top of the left column.
      OR
    • To select one or more of the defect items in the list, mark the check box to the left of each desired defect list item. 
  3. Choose Bulk Actions > Delete
  4. Ensure a checkmark appears next the wanted items. Then click Delete

Use Bulk Actions > Retrieve Defect List Items

  1. Navigate to the project's Defect List tool.
  2. Click Recycled Items.
    Note: The Retrieve menu option is the only option available in the Recycled Items tab.
  3. Locate the defect list items that you want to modify and then:
    • To select all of the defect items in the list, mark the checkbox at the top of the left column.
      OR
    • To select one or more of the defect items in the list, mark the check box to the left of each desired defect list item. 
  4. Choose Bulk Actions > Retrieve
  5. Ensure a checkmark appears next to the wanted items. Then click Retrieve

Use Bulk Actions > Close in the Defect List Tool

  1. Navigate to the project's Defect List tool.
  2. Locate the defect list items that you want to modify and then:
    • To select all of the defect items in the list, mark the checkbox at the top of the left column.
      OR
    • To select one or more of the defect items in the list, mark the check box to the left of each desired defect list item. 
  3. Choose Bulk Actions > Close.
  4. Ensure a checkmark appears next the wanted items. Then click Close

Use Bulk Actions > Reopen Defect List Items

  1. Navigate to the project's Defect List tool.
  2. Select Status from the Add Filter menu. Then select Closed from the secondary drop-down list.  
  3. Locate the defect list items that you want to modify and then:
    • To select all of the closed defect items in the list, mark the checkbox at the top of the left column.
      OR
    • To select one or more of the closed defect items in the list, mark the check box to the left of each desired defect list item. 
  4. Choose Bulk Actions > Reopen
  5. Ensure a checkmark appears next the wanted items. Then click Reopen
