Create a Hybrid Tutorial

Objective

To create a hybrid tutorial that includes Content Reuse or custom edits.

Background

A hybrid tutorial is a Training Center page that includes information from the standard Procore Support Site as well as your company's standard operating procedures or special instructions.

Things to Consider

Before creating a new hybrid tutorial, check the Library of Hybrid Tutorials for a hybrid tutorial that has already been created and can be copied to your Training Center. For more information, see Copy a Tutorial from Procore's Library of Hybrid Tutorials

Create a New Page

  1. Navigate to the area of your Training Center that you want to create a tutorial in.
    For example, if creating a hybrid tutorial for a Procore tool, make sure you’re on the ‘Procore Process Database’ page within your Site Map.
  2. Click New.
  3. Check the box for 'Show All Available Templates' and choose a template for the page layout from the following options:

    1 - Tutorial (Plain): This template is a blank space for your own format.

    Scroll to the bottom to find the Blank template: This template is a blank page with no format.

  4. Click Create Live
  5. Click Create
    You will automatically be redirected to your new page.

  6. Enter a Title to name the page or page section. 
  7. If applicable, Replace instructional text with your content and add images, videos or tables to enhance your Training Center. 
  8. Click Save.

Copy a tutorial from procore's library of hybrid tutorials

  1. Navigate to the Library of Hybrid Tutorials list.
  2. Scroll or use the Shortcut links to jump to a specific Procore Tool. 
  3. Click on the tutorial you want to copy. 
  4. Click Options. In the drop-down menu, click Copy.
  5. Within the 'Copy Page' pop-up menu, click Browse.
  6. Use the + and - signs to navigate the Browse window and click the Folder where you want to place this copied hybrid tutorial.
    1. Click the + sign next to 'tc' to expand the folder.
    2. Click the + sign next to your Company Name to expand the folder.
    3. Click on the Tutorials Folder. 
      Verify the selected location is highlighted in orange and reflected correctly under 'New page location'.CopyPage- Brick.png
  7. Enter a title for the new tutorial in the 'Page Title' field and include your company's name in parentheses.
    For example, 'Add a Daily Log Item (Brick)'. 
  8. Click Copy page.
    You will be redirected to the copied page. Verify the new page title and URL address. 

 

Edit the Page

  1. Click Edit and select Edit Live.
  2. Add a 'Special Instructions' section above 'Steps' to highlight the key differences your company requires.
  3. Enter a note under the 'Things to Consider' header by inserting a bullet point below.
  4. Click Save.

 

Reuse a Page's Content

  1. Click Edit and select Edit Live.
  2. Place your cursor on the page where you want the Content Reuse block to be. 
  3. Click Elements.
  4. Click Content Reuse.
  5. To populate the Article to Reuse field, use the Browse or Search tabs to find the content you would like to reuse.
    Browse:
    Click the + or - sign next to the parent folder to expand or collapse it. 
    Click the folder to select the content and reuse it. 



    Search:
    Enter a keyword or key phrase into the search bar and press Enter.
    Recommended search results will populate in the list. 
    Click the link to select the content and reuse it.

  6. Within the Reuse Section drop-down, specify how much content you want to reuse:
    • To reuse the entire page, leave the Reuse section unselected.
    • To reuse only a section of a page, select the appropriate section from the Reuse section drop-down list. If reusing a section, the entire section will be reused, including any subsections.

  7. Click Insert.
  8. Click Save. 

 

 

 

Edit Copied Standard Tutorial In-Line

  1. Navigate to the Procore standard tutorial you want to copy the Steps section from or copy the layout of. 
    For example, support.procore.com/products...daily-log-item
  2. Highlight the Steps section or the entire tutorial and use Control + C on your keyboard to copy. 
  3. Navigate to your Training Center page.
  4. Click Edit and select Edit Live.
  5. Use Control + V on your keyboard to paste the information into your Training Center page. 
  6. Edit the pasted information as needed to customize it. 
  7. Click Save.
