Procore

Why can't I create or activate Procore projects?

Answer

If you are unable to create a project or reactivate an existing project, you will typically see one of these scenarios:

Scenario Typical Reason
The 'Create Project' button in the Portfolio tool is dimmed and unavailable Your account has reached its maximum number of active projects. See Project Cap below.
For assistance, please contact your Procore point of contact or send an email to support@procore.com.
The 'Create Project' button in the Portfolio tool is dimmed or locked If you have configured Procore to work with an integrated ERP system, the ability to create new Procore projects is disabled until the sync between your ERP accounting system and Procore has been properly set up and configured. This prerequisite step is required to ensure your projects can be properly synced between the two systems. This process requires that your cost coding system is finalized between Procore and your ERP System before you start creating any new project data. Note: For any questions surrounding your ERP integration connection, please contact your Integration Implementation Specialist or your implementation resource for additional help.
There is no 'Create Project' button visible in the Portfolio tool You have not been granted permission to add projects to your company's Procore account. Please contact your company's Procore Administrator to request a change to your user permission.
Note: Procore cannot change a user's permissions.
The 'Active Project' field on the Admin tool's 'General' page is dimmed and unavailable Your account has reached its maximum number of active projects. See Project Cap below.
For assistance, please contact your Procore point of contact or send an email to support@procore.com
The 'Project Stage' cannot be changed from 'Tendering' to another stage Your company’s contract with Procore might allow an unlimited number of projects in a 'Tendering' stage that are not counted towards your project cap. If your project cap has been reached, you will not be able to move any of your projects out of the tendering stage until you set an active project to inactive. Please contact your Procore point of contact for information on increases to the project cap.
Project Cap

A project cap is the maximum amount of projects that can be active in your company's Procore account. After a project cap has been reached, you will not be able to create a new project or reactivate a project that had previously been set to inactive.

  • To increase the project cap, a Procore Administrator at your company can contact your Procore point of contact with an inquiry.
Note: Increases to the project cap may affect the contract price.
  • The project cap is specified in your company's contract with Procore. Your account's 'Sandbox Test Project' and 'Standard Project Template' are not included in the project cap.
Note: Your company’s contract with Procore might allow an unlimited number of projects in a 'Tendering' stage that are not counted towards your project cap.
  • If you have 'Admin' permissions to the Company Admin tool, you can view your account's project cap on the Account Overview page. See View Account Information.
