Edit a Project Permissions Template
Objective
To edit a project permissions template in the company's Permissions tool.
Background
If your company wants to modify any of Procore's default permissions templates or if your company has created a new template, follow the steps below to edit permission levels, manage assignable templates and manage users for a permissions template.
Things to Consider
- Required User Permissions:
- 'Admin' level permissions on the company's Permissions tool.
- Additional Information:
- Procore's permission levels (None, Read Only, Standard, and Admin) define what actions users can perform and what information they can view in each Procore tool. See What are the default permission levels in Procore?
- You can grant task-based permissions, called granular permissions, on supported Procore tools. See Grant Granular Permissions in a Project Permissions Template and Which Procore tools support granular permissions?
Prerequisites
Steps
A project permissions template's page has the following tabs:
- Edit Template. This tab is where the permissions for each Project level tool are configured for the permissions template.
- Manage Assignable Templates. This tab is where the assignable templates are configured for the permissions template. If users assigned to the permissions template you are editing have the appropriate permissions to add or edit users, you can select the permissions templates they can assign to other users in this tab. See What is an assignable permissions template?
- Manage Users. This tab is where users currently assigned to the permissions template can be reassigned to a different project permissions template or have their current permissions template set as their default permissions template.
Edit Template
- Navigate to the company's Permissions tool.
- Click the Project Permissions Templates tab.
- Click Actions and select 'Edit Template' next to the permissions template you want to edit.
- On the 'Edit Template' page, click the pencil icon to change the permissions template's name or see Rename a Project Permissions Template.
- For each Procore tool row in the table, select the button under one of the following columns:
- None. Grants no access to the Procore tool. This is the default setting for all tools (except the project's Home tool) on newly created permissions templates.
- Read Only. Grants read-only access to the Procore tool. This is the default setting for the project's Home tool. When this option is selected for a tool that supports granular permissions, the tool's granular permissions options display. See Grant Granular Permissions in a Project Permissions Template.
- Standard. Grants standard access to the Procore tool. When this option is selected for a tool that supports granular permissions, the tool's granular permissions options display. See Grant Granular Permissions in a Project Permissions Template.
- Admin. Grants admin access to the Procore tool.
