Configure Settings: Budget
Objective
To configure advanced settings for the project's Budget tool.
Background
Users with the appropriate permissions can configure a variety of advanced settings for the project's Budget tool.
Things to Consider
- Required User Permissions:
- 'Admin' level permissions on the project's Budget tool.
- Additional Information:
- There are additional configuration steps for the budget and forecast views in the Company Admin tool. See Set Up a New Budget View and Set Up a New Forecasting View.
Prerequisites
- Add the Budget tool to the project. See Add and Remove Project Tools
Steps
Set the Budget Settings
- Navigate to the project's Budget tool.
- Click Configure Settings
.
- Click Budget Settings.
- Optional: Enable the following options as wanted:
- Autocalculate Forecast to Complete by Default. Place a checkmark in this box to automatically calculate the forecast to complete. Important! This setting only applies to new items. It does NOT retroactively calculate forecast to complete on existing budget items. See Use the 'Forecast to Complete' Feature.
- Enable Advanced Forecasting. This feature is enabled by default. Remove the checkmark to disable the advanced forecasting feature. Place a checkmark in this box to enable the advanced forecasting feature. When enabled, this action adds the following items to Procore:
- A new 'Forecasting' tab to the project's Budget tool.
- A new 'Procore Standard Forecast View' in the Company level Admin tool. See About the Procore Standard Forecasting View.
- The ability to create customised forecasting views in the Company level Admin tool and assign those views to projects. See Set Up a New Forecasting View.

Legacy Allow Budget Modifications Which Modify Grand Total. Place a checkmark in this box to perform addition/subtraction to increase/decrease totals when creating budget modifications. See Create a Budget Modification.Note
This feature is only available to Procore customers who have NOT yet migrated to the new budget changes feature. See Budget: New 'Budget Changes' Feature for Change Management in Project Financials.

New Require Net Zero Budget Change Amounts. Place a checkmark in this box to require net zero budget changes. If you create a budget change with the setting turned ON, the full amount of an adjustment must be moved to another line item before a user can click the Save button. See Create Budget Changes.
- Click Update.
Set User Permissions for the Budget Tool
Instead of the steps below, Procore recommends that you set user access permissions to your project tools using a permission template. See Manage Project Permissions Templates.
- Navigate to the project's Budget tool.
- Click Configure Settings
.
- Click Permissions Table.
- Under User Permissions for Budget, set the user's access permission level by clicking the icon in the column so a GREEN checkmark appears.
